It's finally spring! Well... almost. In Michigan, the average high temperature is still only in the mid-40s this month but usually there will be at least a couple of warmer days that give a hint of the glorious spring and summer months that are to come. :) Whatever the weather decides to do, however, getting ready and planning for springtime events is already in full swing, which is why I now present to you three spring event color combinations that I really love!
Color Combination #1 - Mint Green & Pale Pink
This color scheme is perfect for early spring. The green is cooler so it still feels chilly and wintry, but the pop of the pink looks forward to spring. Keeping both the green and pink as lighter shades help the colors from getting too bold and active - saturated reds and greens create vibrations if they're too close together, since they're complements (opposites on the color wheel). Though that effect can be interesting, too much just makes your eyes hurt. For early spring when the world is just waking up, more subdued colors are the perfect calm solution.
Pastels like mint green and pale pink are also great for interior design, since they're relaxing and calm - use them in a bedroom or nursery. And don't forget spring holidays like Easter, which love to use copious pastels to celebrate the season! :)
Color Combination #2 - Light Blue & Chocolate Brown
Brown is such a great neutral. It's warmer than grays, whites, and blacks, and instantly adds a bit of depth and richness to your palette. Pair it with the color of the sky for a perfect spring combination. It feels fresh, and brings to mind the feeling of a cleansing rain, or the color of a river's first springtime thaw. To play up that new, pure feeling, you can also add an eggshell white or cream as a second neutral.
Color Combination #3 - Magenta & Purple
This color scheme is not for the faint of heart. Bold and bright, the magenta screams color like a kid who's been cooped up inside all winter and is excited to be out jumping in the sunshine again. Balance that magenta out with a deep, rich, royal purple, a light lavender, or both! Purple is close enough to magenta on the color wheel that they flow analogously with each other - so the color combo is bright, but not too crazy.
