Autumn Event Color Combinations - Part One

Before the weather gets too wintry outside, I wanted to take a moment and share a few of my favorite autumn-inspired event color combinations, perfect for fall weddings, formal thanksgiving dinners, classy costume contests, harvest-themed birthday parties, autumn equinox gatherings, daylight savings dances, or any other autumn event you can imagine.

Color Combination #1 - Burgundy and Golden Yellow

It's easy to find inspiration for this color scheme in a variety of places, from Harry Potter's Gryffindor House, to elegant Indian wedding fabrics. It's a very versatile color combination that can feel sporty, sunny, casual, or classy depending on how it's used, and that makes it a great choice for almost any autumn event. No matter which direction you take it in, it always feels distinctly fall, since the colors mimic some of the prettiest shades of autumn leaves.

Color Combination #2 - Orange & Navy Blue

The orange is obviously reminiscent of fallen leaves, and the navy is a great contrasting color for it. As a shout-out to my fellow Michiganders, and a further explanation on why these colors seem distinctly late summer/fall to me, I feel obligated to mention that orange and navy are also the colors of the Detroit Tigers. These colors, therefore, would obviously be great for a baseball-themed party around playoff time, but they can also be very sophisticated and rich, which makes it a fantastic combination for more formal events, as well.

Color Combination #3 - Eggplant & Copper

I believe that an eggplant and copper combination could be more intrinsically formal or casual, depending on which color is emphasized more. Eggplant seems very deep and rich to me, so if it were the dominant shade and copper was used as an accent color, it would make for a really beautiful wedding or other formal party. This color scheme could just as easily be made more funky and casual, though, if copper were the color emphasized. A display of hanging copper pots on the wall or a collection of copper vessels lined up on a mantle would add an instant rustic feel on top of the sophistication the colors already exude.

Check back tomorrow for "part two," where I look at three more of my favorite autumn event color combinations!
